It’s week 26, which means that 2012 is half way over. I can’t believe it! I hope you are enjoying this series and finding your own treasures at your local Goodwill.
This afternoon I went to the Colonial Heights (VA) store and the Petersburg (VA) store. I like going on Sundays because that is when the color of the week changes. This week it is blue. My first purchase was a pillow sham marked $1.99, but it was blue so it ended up being only 99 cents. I’m sure you can already guess what this will become. Here is the front and back…
After washing and pressing, I used some Stitch Witchery to close the inside seam where you would normally stuff the pillow.
Then I cut off the long edges of the sham at the stitching line.
Next I folded over the short edges at the stitching line and placed the geometric printed sides together and stitched down both sides. Then I boxed the corners, the right way, Mom.
Finally I took the long strips and tore out one side of the stitching, folded the right sides together, restitched, then turned and pressed and attached to the inside of THE BAG. You knew it, right? Here’s the inside…
…and the outside.
…and the flip side of the outside.
I’m very happy with how it turned out! I love the how the folded over top hides where the straps were attached. I’d like to try this again with a quilted sham.
Today I also found this fabulous bag that screams SUMMER. It says Louis Vuitton, but surely it’s a knock-off in Goodwill for $8.00.
$8.00 is still a great price for a knock-off.
